DANIELE BARTOLI

Daniele Bartoli is an Italian independent film director, film-maker and screenwriter.
After experimenting with video and photography since his teenage years, he moved into
filmmaking in 2021 to explore psychological, character-driven stories. He has written and
directed several short films, with festival presence and international selections, and is
currently finalising the post-production of Memoriae.

  1. COMEDY

    ELECTIVE AFFINITIES

Elective Affinities is a short film that explores the unpredictability of human relationships through a forced encounter, seemingly trivial in its everyday nature, that becomes unexpectedly revealing.

Starting from a clear clash of personalities, the two strangers react in opposite ways to the same unforeseen event. The short stages an ironic and tight confrontation around personal frailties, the need for control, and the small defence mechanisms we all activate without even realising it.

    SPAGHETTI WESTERN

    ALL FOR A FILTHY STAR

All for a Filthy Star marks the return of the spaghetti western to Camposecco (Rome), fifty years after the last films were shot on the plateau.

A historic location now almost forgotten by cinema, it was the set for over fifty films between the 1960s and 1970s, including “Lo chiamavano trinità” with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.

    Available on Amazon Prime Italy

  3. Social Drama

    CALL ME

Call Me is a short, grounded drama where a simple trip to the mall spirals out of control after a scam in the parking lot leaves Roberto without his car, his phone, and a way to call his father back.

The short film received a special Mention from Codacons and AssoURT during the Venice International Film Festival 2024 in the “Ridateci i soldi” space set up at the Lido by Codacons

On a deserted road, a worn-out addict and a young woman marked by grief share a brief, intense encounter where a single syringe becomes a choice between giving up and holding on.

    NON IDONEI

At an elegant dinner between two couples, a hidden judgment about who is “fit” to have a child turns polite conversation into a quiet eruption of rage, envy, and blood, leaving only a perfectly set table and the aftertaste of hypocrisy.

Short film realized and screened during the third edition of Kino Kabaret 48h Film Festival in Milan.

  6. Psychological Drama

    MEMORIAE

Memoriae is a psychological drama short film set in England in 1939, exploring the inner wounds left by the First World War.

Starting from the theme of memory, the film examines Shell Shock, the early form of what we now call PTSD, closely following the emotional fracture of soldiers returning from the front.

It is currently in post-production (expected completion January 2026).
